Rato Machhindranath Temple

The Rato Machhindranath Temple: Machhindranath is locally worshipped as the god of rain. To Buddhists, he is the Tantric edition of Avalokiteswora, while to Hindus, he is an avatar of Shiva. Standing in a large courtyard, the three-storey temple dates to 1673, although an earlier temple may have existed on the site since 1408 ( The metal roof of the temple is supported by struts, each showing Avalokiteswora standing above figures being tortured in hell.
