Dharahara

Dharahara Dharahara (Bhimsen’s Folly): Originally eleven-storey tall, Dharahara was damaged in the earthquake of 1934 and re-built shorter at nine storey. It was only from January 2005 that it was opened to the public (John Child, Streets of Silver, Streets of Gold). At present, it welcomes numerous visitors each day who get a magnificent and complete view of the city from the building’s top. The visitors can also relax in the small park surrounding Dharahara where they can enjoy some greenery, away from the hustle and bustle of the market.
