Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Bhaktapur Durbar Square Basantapur Durbar Square: Although only a short walk in terms of distance, this vibrant public space is full of fascinating things to see. A visit to Kathmandu’s old royal palace reveals a building that is at least a thousand years old (Kasthamandap) while the oldest sculptures here are more than 1500 years old. Every structure of the square—from temples, to the courtyards to the Gaddi Baithak—tells us stories of its origin, functions and significance in different periods of history. Among them, the Kumari Ghar, the house of the child goddess who is revered as the living incarnation of Goddess Taleju, is one of the most popular sites among the tourists as well as the locals (John Child, Streets of Silver, Streets of Gold).
