Kancha Kumar Karmacharya

After completing the training as a “Kala Pravin” from Juddha Art School in 1965, Kancha Kumar Karmacharya joined Nepal Postal Service as a ticket designer. During his long career with the postal service, he designed numerous tickets depicting national martyrs, ethnic communities, animals, flowers, and natural landscapes.

Karmacharya is also known as the first collage painter in Nepal and produced number of collages in the 1960s, culminating in his first solo exhibition of collage paintings in 2029 BS. His later works, however, have moved away into figurative paintings of gods, religious rituals and landscapes, though he also uses semi-figurative techniques to depict these subjects.
