Chandra Man Maskey was born in Kathmandu and received his initial education at Durbar High School. His further training was gained in Government College of Art, Calcutta.Maskey's first solo exhibition was held at Tripureshwor Athithi Sadan in 1985 BS which was inaugurated by the then Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher. His paintings are still present in Gaddi Baithak of Hanumandhoka Palace and Gallery Baithak of Singha Durbar. 

Maskey taught art at Padma Kanya School, Durbar High School and Trichandra Campus for nearly 30 years. President of “Nepal Kala Samiti,” the first art organization in Nepal, established in 2009 BS, he was an active artist till his last days in 2041.
